Videos Rendered

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

Well the project is coming on well, most of the videos are rendered now, i just need adjust one video then create the sequence in premier. For once my video format will follow the story board the i created in the early stages.
My main objectives are to create a sense of linear narrative by creating a build up sequence with the footage that i have already. By using blending techniques or dissolves i think i should be able to create a realistic looking build sequence, kind of like a stop animation sequence. The camera fly’s in over the ground, when the base is added, followed by scaffolding, floor 1, floor 2 then the removal of the scaffolding. This will give the illusion that the building has actually been sculpted and created from the bottom up.
Below you can see some screen shots of some of the video clips.

Video Music - 3d

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Choosing the right type of music is always a hard decision. I wanted to keep the mood relaxed and calm. The music would need to start off very subtle and build up to a more dramatic yet still calm melody. What better than massive attack - Teardrop. Obviously i would have to edit the singing out as this is not relevant.

This is also recycling old material. The song was released in April 27 1998 but still fits in with today’s popular music.

Materials for the 3d Design

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

For the 3d project my aim is to create a naturally constructed building created from recycled materials.
Society still has the view that recycled materials are second hand and less superior, I aim to reject these views by including them in the design of my house. Used materials add character and history to a building and as an aesthetic enhance the visual experience.
My main materials I wish to use are as follows.
The walls and main carcass of the structure will be constructed of recycled household bricks, this follows traditional and pre-traditional architectural principles but uses old architecture to create a seemingly new design.

Steel girders reclaimed from shipping yards or construction sites will be used to support the lower floor roofing section.

My Building

The house reflects the re-use and re-interpretation of traditional materials and building techniques in a post-modern design. Architecture is symbolic of society and peoples dreams and aspirations are reflected in the buildings they construct.
The house alone paints an interesting picture of society’s priorities in the early 21st century with its use of reclaimed materials and sharp unforgiving lines (put quote in here about architectural school etc).
